Message from Dr. Reagan Flowers
Summer was Made for STEM
Throughout the year, educators work hard to give their students the STEM foundation they need to prepare for successful futures. The summer months may be a time to rest and relax, but parents can also help their children prepare for the upcoming school year with STEM activities during the break. Not only will it keep their minds fresh, they will have the chance to rediscover the joy and creativity STEM projects inspire, without the pressure of grades.

This Month’s Highlights
The Hunger-Learning Connection
For some families, relying on reduced price and free school meal programs is crucial to feeding their children. Sadly, six out of seven hungry kids don’t get the summer meals they need. Hunger makes it much more difficult for children to learn and to focus. Fortunately, No Kid Hungry is providing a resource to combat this problem. Families in need can text “food” to 877-877 to find free summer meals for their kids. Please spread the word about this resource so all kids can get the nutrition they need this summer.

From Competitor to Leader
If your school district, system or charter has participated in C-STEM programs in the past, you can take your support one step further by applying to become a C-STEM Key. This will set up your organization as the leader in your area for STEM education.
