This Month’s Highlights

Hess Corporation Invests in Houston Schools

Through its philanthropic program, Hess Corporation has awarded C-STEM $50,000 to invest in seven Houston-area elementary schools and one middle school. The effort is a three-year investment in the Second Ward/Magnolia Park and Third Ward areas of Houston.

The generous partnership includes literacy, financial empowerment programs and STEM offerings for each school. Hess has partnered with C-STEM to offer the Robotics Prototype Challenge Program at each of the following schools:

  • Edward Blackshear Elementary School
  • Marcellus Foster Elementary School
  • Victor Hartsfield Elementary School
  • Lucian Lockhart Elementary School
  • Lora Peck Elementary School
  • Ruby Thompson Elementary School
  • Tina Whidby Elementary School
  • Ezekiel Cullen Middle School

Thank you to Hess Corporation and our school partners. We look forward to the immense impact these programs will have on the future of our local students!

Challenge Day Showcases Sheldon ISD Students

We invite you to join us in supporting young STEM students on Wednesday, May 26, as Sheldon Independent School District holds a unique C-STEM Challenge Day. Attend in person at Michael R. Null Middle School in Houston or virtually from 9 a.m. to noon., as students compete in robotics, innovation, computer programming, murals, and sculptures. Save the date now!

Webinar Celebrates Women in Tech

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, CSforALL celebrated young women in tech. They recognized students within their community who have experienced interning at well known Universities, tech and startup companies. The webinar is available now — this is a great opportunity for young girls to hear from the next voices in tech, and learn from their experiences.

Young Inventor Inspires All

A 17-year-old Iowa student is wowing all around her with her invention — color-changing sutures that detect infection. Dasia Taylor’s work has won several prizes, and she is now seeking a patent. This inspiring young woman approached her work with a global mindset, hoping to improve equity amongst nations and racial groups where inequities prevail.

Blast From the Past Corner

We get the biggest joy going back down memory lane. C-STEM has touched so many lives over the 20 years we have been serving communities near and far. It is our hope that this memory places a smile on your face and in your heart. This month, we’re featuring a video from 2014. We hope you love hearing these students share their C-STEM experiences.
